Kalaw: Cave Pagado (Höhlen-Pagode)
One of the main attractions of Kalaw (not explicitly mentioned in the Lonely
Planet Guide) is the Shwe Oo Min Ancient Cave Pagoda. It is a monastary with
a bigger group of pagaodas in an unusual light blue color in a very scenic
setting. The most beautiful part of the monastery is the cave itself which
has many branches. All of them having impressing buddha images of different
sizes and several places for meditation.
The monastary is 300 years old and was founded by King Nayapatae Sithu
himself. It is opened from 8am to 8pm. Enterance is free. It is located in
the south west of Kalaw, about a 30 min walk from the city center.
