Myitkyina kann man ab sofort nur noch mit eingeholter Permit erreichen, Grund dafür ist der Konflikt im Kachin-State.

Ich erhielt heute (05.01.12) folgende E-Mail eines vertrauenswürdigen Bekannten aus Yangon:

"Today I phoned to MTT. They told me that Myitkyina, Dawei, Myak and Kawthaung can go only by flight, no need permission to visit around the town. (...)"

MTT selbst schrieb mir ebenfalls heute, dass Dawei per Flug ohne besondere Erlaubnis besucht werden könne. Ein Permit werde allerdings für Besuche der Umgebung benötigt. Die Bewilligung benötige mindestens 14 Tage.

das ist mal wieder typisch myanmar...denn mein bekannter der MTT angerufen hat meinte das man ne Permit braucht für Myitkyina. genauso sagt es die mail direkt von MTT und von anderen reisebüros in yangon.... schon sehr komisch das ganze

The fighting in Kachin state has, unfortunately, intensified and travelling in and around Myitkyina is suspended until further notice. Due to this latest development the famous Manau Festival, held annually on January 10, has been cancelled for this year.
